How to Photograph and Identify a Pump Nameplate

Clean the plate first. A rag and a little solvent recover most stamped plates well enough to read.

Shoot straight on, fill the frame, and use light from the side rather than a direct flash so stamped characters cast a shadow.

Capture the motor plate too. Manufacturer, model, size, serial number, impeller diameter, RPM, horsepower and voltage all shorten the conversation.

Tell us what failed, and we'll tell you what it takes.

Send equipment details, nameplate photos and site information — or call the office to talk it through with someone who works on this equipment.
